Pete Meredith retires after 38 years coaching at CAC

Pete, who has been coaching the Young Athletes endurance group at CAC for the past 38 years, has decided to call it a day. To mark his retirement there was be a presentation made to Pete at training on Tuesday 25 August.

During his coaching career at CAC Pete has coached a few thousand youngsters, including at least ten who have run internationally.  

Most people probably didn't realise that Pete lives in Wdaebridge and has made the return journey to and from the Carn Brea Leisure Centre at least once and for many yeras twice a week.  I have estimated that these journeys collectively amount to at least 84000 miles!!

Pete has sent in the following Thank You message.

"A massive thank you from me to everyone at CAC for all their support over the years. And not forgetting my group: they have been my inspiration and it is they who have kept me going throughout. I have very many happy memories of my time at the club: countless sessions with the lads arriving early to play football first, while the girls enjoyed a relaxed chat, sitting on the grass: dunes sessions down at Gwithian, BBQ included! Why, I can even remember when I used to do the sessions with them!

But most of all, I will cherish the memory of happy, smiling faces. I always worked on the principal that the first requisite is to enjoy what you are doing. If you do that, then you'll come back for more."

I am sure this will always be the same at CAC."
