Ben and I worked closely together in the early days, establishing the Duchy Marathon in 1977, which 'ran' for 36 years.

Ben also introduced pole vaulting at Cornwall AC and look at the heights recached by that event today.

Apart from coaching many events, he also became an established starter, driving up and down the country at weekends and being recognised by England Athletics in 2013 for services to officiating.

Ben's dedication, enthusiasm, willingness and I would add, attention to detail, left a lasting mark on the club.

He will be always remembered with fondness at Cornwall AC.
