Tuesday track training this week (6th September) was paused to mark a truly outstanding milestone of one of its members - Alan Rowling's 50th year of coaching.

Many members, past and present, gathered to congratulate and surprise Alan and to see him receive a present from the club. Dave Buzza reflected on the incredible contribution Alan has made- over thousands of hours, over five decades- from his early coaching days at Redruth School, through to the present day at Cornwall AC (including the amalgamation the Duchy of Cornwall Athletic Club and West Cornwall Athletic Club- from which CAC came into being).
Not only has Alan helped guide many Junior, Senior and Veteran athletes to International level success, he is also well know for supporting and encouraging all levels of runners, from complete beginners upwards.
Facebook was flooded with messages for Alan from grateful athletes and club members- some from as far away as Canada!
Of course Alan's contribution goes way beyond just coaching as he was himself an outstanding runner and has played a pivotal role in the development and success of Cornwall AC and is a friend, as well as a coach, to so many.
Thank you again Alan, from all at Cornwall AC for your time, commitment and enduring love of athletics. Congratulations on 50 years of coaching!
