WESTWARD LEAGUE SUMMARY 2019-2020 SEASON

With the dust (mud!) settling on this winter's Westward League season, CAC did pretty well, though not quite as well as last season's best ever effort. A major cause was our cancellation of our home fixture, with many of our athletes relying on that one for points and with many of our Devon team rivals likely to bring weaker teams.
However, there were still lots of great performances, and it is gratifying to see so many youngsters (and older ones!) coming through strongly. A massive thank you to Chris, Jenny and Tony for all their work on Tuesdays/Thursdays and Saturdays (+ Sundays for some!) with our youngsters and to Alan, Diarmuid, Graham, Lee and Yvonne for all their time with the late teenager/senior groups!

Zak Clemens taking a close 2nd in the U15 Boys.
Danny Staples placing 7th in the U17 Men.
Matt Yates 5th, Josh Barnett 7th and Paul Whear 9th (1st V50) in the Senior Men.
Anna English 1st in the U15 Girls.
Louise Mitchell 4th in the Senior Women

Many congratulations to all and to others who are gradually getting stronger and faster, and looking to displace the above in future years!

Perhaps a lesson to be learned, for next year though, league-wise, is that now the 4th fixture has been moved forward to December, it's very sensible to try to race as many of those as possible in order to take pressure off the hectic post-Christmas season, when an ill-timed injury/illness/family commitment can de-rail individual/team chances.
