Throughout it's history, Cornwall Athletic Club’s (CAC) athletes, members, coaches, officials and volunteers have worked tirelessly to help make it one of the most successful clubs in the South West.
Now the ever growing membership includes all ages - Juniors (9+) up to Veterans (70+) - all abilities - able bodied and disabled athletes, from complete beginners to recreational, County, National and International level, competing in track and field disciplines plus road running, multi terrain and cross country events.
CAC was first established in January 1982, as a result of the amalgamation the Duchy of Cornwall Athletic Club and West Cornwall Athletic Club. Today it is based at the Carn Brea Leisure Centre, Pool, Redruth (view on map) where the main weekly training takes place every Tuesday evening on the athletics track, beginning at 6.30 pm (Note: Under 11's summer sessions begin at 6.00 pm). Training takes place throughout the year. In the winter the track is floodlit and a range of indoor facilities are also available.
Cornwall Athletic Club offers the full range of Track and Field events, under the supervision of 30 UK Athletics qualified coaches. There is also a strong Road Running section and in the winter Cross Country is a popular form of competition, plus the younger members also take part in the increasingly popular Sportshall athletic meetings.
Interested in joining CAC? Then please click here for further details and download a membership form, or come along on a Tuesday evening and see how we train. (Parents should please contact our Track and Field Chairman, Martin Gray in the first instance, if their child is Under 11/Primary School age [9 or older] and wishes to join - due to the ongoing popularity of this section of the club).
Over the years Cornwall AC has enjoyed some truly outstanding achievements, thanks to the hard work of the many coaches, officials, athletes, committee members, parents and volunteers. Most recently, the club is proud to have celebrated a string of successes, including...
